How To Create A Brochure People Will Want To Read

How To Create A Brochure People Will Want To Read
06/04/2014

Making a brochure your prospective clients will want to read is a challenging task, no matter what business you're in. Online marketing methods are a lot more engaging, but brochures also have their benefits, assuming you've created a unique pamphlet that people will want to read through.

Here are a few tips to help you create a brochure that your potential clients won’t be able to put down:

  1. Use positive words and avoid negative phrases. A lot of advertisers state they don't use certain ingredients, or they don't work in a certain way like their competitors. This is a mistake because it brings a negative association with your business or product. Instead, you should use positive words to describe what you offer, and focus on what you have, not what you don't. For example: “We only use natural products” as opposed to “we don't use harmful products”.
  2.

  3. Keep the message short and to the point. A brochure needs to be concise and not contain too much text. Think of it as a tool similar to Twitter – you have a short line to grab attention. If you combine infographics in the brochure, it would be a great addition.
  4.

  5. Don't forget about formatting. A brochure should have a consistent formatting, so don't go crazy with different fonts, sizes and styles. A well formatted brochure should have spaces between paragraphs, readable fonts and unified colors. This will ensure your brochure is easy to read, and is a complete piece of information.
  6.

  7. Remember to leave white space. This is very important, and for some reason, not all advertisers take it into account. Leaving a blank space (it doesn't have to be white of course), makes the text easier to read.
  8.

  9. Don't forget proofreading. Even if you're in a hurry to send the brochure to print, whether using a traditional printing method or you're using a print on demand service, don't let the lack of time the reason for misspelling or grammatical errors. Prospective clients reading a brochure that contain bad spelling and grammar will automatically assume that your work or products are probably not so perfect as well.

Creating a successful brochure is not very complicated, it just requires following a few simple steps that will guarantee it won't end up in the trash can.
